I was fortunate enough to get last week off from work to go to Pedestrian Sunday in Kensington Market, Toronto. This was my first time at this event, the whole idea is to take back the streets from cars and think locally about our communities. The day was filled with food stands selling fish, lemonade and tacos. Independent artists were selling their wares and musicians singing their hearts out. Everyone was out to have a good time and make this small street even if only for one day the ultimate party! It was interesting though that on twitter I found some articles  speaking about these huge barriers they have erected to keep out the cars. Some how they were riddled with community disapproval. I personally don’t see an issue with them and hope all the tension they are causing will be resolved soon so people can think about more important things, like fighting off  Starbucks so the local business that makes this area so special can continue to bring everyone so much joy!
